Types of Massage

Swedish-type Massage

Swedish-type Massage is a technique that uses a system of long strokes, kneading and friction techniques on the more superficial layers of the muscles, combined with active and passive movements of the joints. Used primarily for a full-body session, it promotes general relaxation, improves circulation and range of motion, and relieves muscle tension.

Relaxation Massage

Relaxation Massage is any combination of light non-invasive strokes, kneading, or energy work that produces a profound state of physical and emotional relaxation in the client. It involves manipulation of the soft tissue structures of the body to prevent and alleviate pain, discomfort, muscle spasm and stress.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue Massage releases the chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow deep strokes and deep, specific finger pressure on contracted areas, either following or going across the grain of muscles, tendons, and fascia. It can be used for specific work or full-body. Among the conditions deep tissue bodywork can treat are whiplash, low back and neck pain, and degenerative diseases such as multiple sclerosis. It is called deep tissue, because it also focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue.

Sports Massage

Sports Massage is a form of massage, which utilizes specific strokes and stretches to help obtain maximum performance and physical conditioning with less chance of injury or pain. It helps to obtain maximum conditioning by increasing power, endurance and flexibility both before and after an event or work out. Throughout training and rigorous regular athletic activity, massage helps to prevent injuries. Areas of muscular stress can result from repetitive or stressful motion and are typically precursors to injury. Sports massage assists in relieving muscle stress and preventing injuries, enabling harder and more consistent training.

PreNatal Massage

PreNatal Massage is a great way to relieve the stresses that result from the rapid and profound physical as well as mental changes that occur during pregnancy. It is designed to relieve aches in the back, neck, hips, legs and weight bearing joints. It can also provide emotional support for Moms-to-be. Postpartum massage helps restore the body to pre-pregnancy conditions and helps nurture the new Mom.
